IME Apprenticeship

POWER UP YOUR CAREER WITH AN APPRENTICESHIP AT IME

Your career as a skilled electrician starts here. Whether you’re fresh out of school, changing careers, or looking for a new challenge.

Skip the debt. Skip the dead-end jobs. Start earning real money while you train for a career that will always be in demand.

At IME, we’ve built a pathway that takes you from classroom to jobsite to journeyman — all while paying you to learn. Whether you’re straight out of high school or ready to change lanes mid-career, this program is your launchpad.

How It Works:

We partner with the Denver Joint Electrical Apprenticeship & Training Committee (DJEATC), NECA, and the IBEW to provide paid, nationally recognized training that opens the door to a lifelong career in the electrical industry. As part of Quanta Services, you’ll join a nationwide network of top electrical professionals — supported with the resources, benefits, and opportunities to build a strong future.

Who should apply?

For New Grads:

If college doesn’t feel like the right path, this is your chance to step into a career that’s hands-on, well-paid, and built for the future. You’ll train alongside skilled journeymen, make lasting connections, and develop in-demand skills that can take you anywhere.

For Mid-Career Changers:

It’s never too late to make a change. Many of our apprentices come from other industries, bringing valuable life experience into a career that offers stability, great benefits, and long-term opportunity.

What are the benefits?

IBEW/NECA’s “earn-as-you-learn” apprenticeship model allows aspiring electricians to start earning wages immediately while incurring far lower training costs than a four-year college degree. National data shows that union apprentices start at roughly $13 per hour, quickly progressing to journeyman wages upon completion, with total program costs usually under $1,500, while the average annual cost for college students exceeds $35,000, not including lost wages or student debt. Graduates of NECA-IBEW apprenticeships typically begin their careers earning over $90,000 in Colorado, often matching or outpacing the average starting salaries of college graduates, without loan obligations.

The Denver Joint Electrical Apprenticeship Training Committee (DJEATC) offers an integrated electrical training program partnered with Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver). Apprentices earn college credits—starting with 6 free credit hours and reimbursement for another 27—while completing on-the-job and classroom training. This pathway awards 45 MSU Denver credits for completion of DJEATC’s four-year apprenticeship, allowing qualified journeymen to finish a bachelor’s degree in construction project management at MSU Denver in just three semesters as full-time students. The result is a seamless, debt-free education and career advancement route for working electricians in Denver.

In addition to this, electricians receive a great pension, medical and vacation benefits. And when you’re ready further opportunities are available including estimating, project management and even executive leadership!

At IME, an apprenticeship doesn’t end with a certificate. It powers your career.

The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) has been advancing the electrical industry for over a century. Their support helps make apprenticeships possible, ensuring a strong future for our trade.
